My girls have to read tons of books for school! They have an advanced reader program and you have to stick with a strict schedule to complete the reading requirements and every book has a level, a quiz number and a point value. Because I am a control freak, I labeled all our books with post it notes and wrote out all the info and stuck it to the inside of the book. ( I know I know I have a problem!) Anyways~~ I noticed them using my post it note as a book mark, and my problem with that is by the time they get to the end of the book, the post it note is no longer sticky and is lost.... so I decided to make them special book marks to use instead!!
These were fun and easy to make! All you need is some jumbo paper clips, some liquid glue and about a cut about 1 1/2" cut both ways.
I used DoodleCharms for the Apple cut at 1 1/2".
I cut it once in green for the leaf, then in brown for the stem, and then again in red.
I then hit the flip button and re-cut all the cuts so that I could glue the apple together around the paper clip and have both sides covered.
I used Scotch Quick dry adhesive to keep it all together.
I also did the same thing using Paper Pups, since our school mascot is the tiger, but because we are an elementary school we use the tiger paw and our colors are orange and black so I made these for my girls, and the apples for the teachers.

Multi-tasking: My Creative time: Use Paisley with a back to school theme. I don't have paisley but the Apple from DoodleCharms should qualify!
My students would probably read more if they had such cute bookmarks. I will have to make up a supply for the classroom. Love the idea!

ReplyDeleteI love this idea! We are always looking around for bookmarks in our house and end up using all sorts of scraps of paper. I would love to make some of these. They would even be great in birthday treat bags, too. I like the way that you adapted the apple by making several cuts and doing your own paper piecing.
ReplyDeleteLove these Carri, small enough to fit into a mailed card, cute enough to be the gift. The extra layers will give them alittle more strength/durability. I have enjoyed this daily blog hop thank you for sharing your time and talent.
