Paper Cutz Challenge # 38

Here are the requirements for Paper Cutz Challenge # 38:

This week's challenge is to make a card, LO or craft project for Mother's Day using a digital or hand stamped image and any colors you'd like.

I used a wood mounted stamp for the flowers that I colored with pencils, and the Mom is from Fiskars clear stamps.
I used the cuttlebug to emboss the white paper and used pink ink to bring out the dots. The mom tag is from a punch.

Here is my card!

Cards from our Card Supply Swap!

Finally! Those envelopes have been calling my name for the last few days! And I finally pulled them out! I had so much fun using supplies that someone else sent me. Cuts, Patterns, ribbon and embellishments that I don't have make for fun card making!

Here is the card from the supplies J sent me:
Here is the card from the supplies A sent me:I had so much fun doing this! I can't wait for our next swap!

Catching Up!

I stayed up super late last night to catch up on my challenges! Two down and two to go! I'm also behind with my card supply swap! I have two sets to make with supplies that I have received in the mail! I spent most of this past weekend re-organizing my scrap area! It was soooo much work! And for the past few nights I have been still trying to put the finishing touches so I have not had any flat space to work! I did get some magnet board to use on the back wall but I still have to put them up!

Here are photos of what I have been working on
:

This is my desk top, somewhere under all that stuff!

Here is what I organized over the weekend!

Card made for a Card Supply Swap...

I think it is called a card supply swap? You exchange materials to make a single card to a few people and then post the card...

Here is the card that I made using the supplies that I have sent out. And of course there is a story to go with it!

I t
hought how fun would it be to make a video showing how I used the supplies and came up with my design for the card. Because I don't pre-design my card I just design during the moment it takes me longer to make decisions so it took me about 1/2 an hour to make the video. Then I started editing the video which took me about an hour. And it was after midnight when I finally got done. (And I had to go to work this morning!!) So right before I left my craft room I picked up the card that was still on my work area and went to stand it up on my display shelf and realized I cut the card in the wrong direction and the card would not stand! So There was no way I could go to sleep knowing that the card was made wrong so I had to pull it all apart and design it facing the correct direction! So the whole video was a waste since what I designed didn't work! Isn't crafting so fun?? But I learned a good lesson so its OK!!
Anyway... Ladies I hope you have fun with the supplies I am sending! I can't wait to see the designs!

Supplies sent:
Card base
2 squares of different pattern paper
2 scallops circle cuts from accent essentials
12" of ribbon
Flower
Stamp "It's your special day"
Pop up butterfly

Creative Keepsakes Convention Arizona 2010

Saturday I spent ALL day at the CKC! It was a crazy over-whelming event!

I signed up for three classes all in a row! It was a lot to take in, so I probably will not sign up for another class next year.

Here is my take on the classes I took and I rated them on a Five star scale:

Top Techniques for Tantalizing Cards: ****. Four Star
You need way more than an hour for this class but I did learn some interesting and different techniques and the teacher was fun. I did some research prior to attending, and found they made the same cards as last year.. so I felt as if I had already made them. But I still enjoyed the class.

The Six Degrees of Stamping: *. One Star
I did not enjoy this class at all, the class description upon signing up stated you would be making five projects, we only made one and had additional supplies for an unfinished card. I was disappointed to see the project that we ended up making, was also being made at the "make and takes" at the vendor faire. We were taught one stamping technique, but honestly I'm not sure if it is a technique I would ever use. I also was not taught anything that I could say "Oh that is good to know".

More 7 Minute Cards: ***. Three Star
I did learn a few quick techniques, but the same technique was used on all the cards. Also if you are a card maker, you don't want the whole card made for you... What fun is that?? So it is the perfect class for someone that likes to give out handmade cards but doesn't have a lot of time to be creative with them.

So in a NUT SHELL... I think you could learn way more by getting on You-tube and typing in "card making techniques"... and save yourself $70.00!

I think my next video will show a few of the new techniques.

I don't want to be a complete DOWNER! It was a good experience I'm glad I went because I now know what it was like. Also because I signed up on-line I was given a "My Creative Companion 2 The ultimate scrapbooking resource book". This book has great photos, ideas, and information.

The above information is only my opinion!

And of course all the shopping to be done afterward! You really have to have patience and a good sense of humor, I was smacked with more giant shopping bags and purses, wedged between happy scrappers and amazed at all the products! So much to see! I went down every isle trying to get the best deal, neatest brad, fancy ribbon, unique paper, and coolest stuff I could find. It took me a few hours! Here is what I ended up lugging home... and yes I did get more paper... LOTS of it!!

You can NEVER have to much paper!!

I have tons of paper, yet every single time I go out I am drawn to the paper section of every store! I am not a "shopper" but when it comes to paper... something takes over! The last few days, I have been picking up paper, paper and more paper! First Joann's had a great sale so I picked up a few packs, then I came across an amazing estate sale and scored on some more amazing paper! I am also going to a scrapbooking convention this weekend and can't wait to see the great deals and what other paper I can pick up! Can we ever have to much??? ( I don't think so!)

I heart paper!

Paper Cutz Challenge # 37

Here is the Paper Cutz Challenge # 37:

This week, make a card, LO or craft project using a tag(s) and any colors or theme you'd like.

I forgot how much I used to love making tags so this challenge was great!

I just picked up the new Debbie Mumm Paper pack from Joann's and I love the animal pattern paper in it... All the animals are sideways, upside down, facing the wrong way and and no matter how hard I tried I could not get the sheep to stand the right away! I still think it is cute! I used Plantin SchoolBook for the tag, Animal Kingdom for the sheep and a cute little "a gift for you" stamp. Face stamp is from Peachy Keen Stamps!

Bitten by the Bug 2 Contest Magnolia

Another challenge from BBTB2! I am really excited about this one!

Here are the details:

All you need to do is make a project and link us up using McKlinky. To be eligible for this contest, there needs to be some stamping on your project and any cut from the Cricut.

I recently received the Animal Kingdom Cartridge and I have wanted to make the fish, because they are so cute! I went through my stamps and as soon as I saw the kitty cat I knew right away the kind of card I wanted to make!

I don't have any Magnolia stamps but would LOVE to win one!!

Here is my entry!

The bowl, fish and seaweed are all cut from Animal Kingdom, I used a circle punch for the air bubbles, printed the segment "be cool", Bright blue fine glitter, and the kitty stamp from KI Memories!

Scrapping with friends

Today I was able to meet up with my friends and have a scrapping party, and we had a blast! We made a card, flipped through tons and tons of pattern paper, swapped papers, made a few scrapbook pages and tested cuts, clips, corner rounders and border punches! I usually scrap alone so it was fun to talk with someone else other than talking to myself!

** Thanks girls!! I had so much fun** Can't wait until next time!
