Happy Thanksgiving!!

I hope everyone has a wonderful Thanksgiving tomorrow! I would love to hear about your funny traditions, so please feel free to tell me about them in the comments!

Here is our funny family tradition:

We live in Arizona so it is the perfect weather here right now. ( We hibernate in the summer!)
So every Thanksgiving my Husband would grab the kids and they would go bike riding, roller blading, basketball and I would be sitting in the kitchen making sure the stove doesn't catch the house on fire... (is that even possible?)

So three years ago it was about 9:00PM and he says to me, you should cook the turkey now that way you can come out to play too. And of course I said "Great idea!" So at about 3:00am we carved the turkey and had it for breakfast the next day!

Now every year I cook the turkey the night before so that I am not ditched on Thanksgiving! I get to go and enjoy the day!

I plan on making yummy sandwiches to take on our bike ride tomorrow, so we will have  a Thanksgiving Day Picnic!

Here is my bird:

  Yummy!!

And here is a funny picture of my dog when I asked her if she wanted me to take her picture:

I am planning on going to Micheal's on Thanksgiving!! I hope to score some good stuff!

Like I need more stuff, this is the current condition of my space!

Enjoy your day!

  6. Carri, loved your Thanksgiving story and I LOVE that photo of your darling dog. I have had some really narrow escapes at Thanksgiving, mostly with the gravy. My mother was a first class gravy maker, but me.....NOT so much. Mine would be too thick and if I tried to thin it down, I over-thinned and if it was too thin and I tried to make it thicker, I would end up with lumps that would not behave. Thank heaven for packaged gravies, I say. My son works on several TV shows and he always works on Wed. before Thanksgiving so he, wife Lee and doggy Daisy are probably just now leaving Los Angeles for the drive to Glendale,AZ. I hope you and your family have a wonderful Thanksgiving, Carri.

  10. Hey girl! Awesome tradition! Love the pics thanks so much for inviting us into your world.
I once cooked a turkey for an entire day. I started it out at 250 degrees slow cooking it at first then I turned it up to 350 degrees for the remainder of the cooking time which was like 4 more hours. Well I found out when it was basting time that I had turned off the stove instead of turning it up. OMGosh we laughed and just started the meal with desert. By this time we were starving. Good times!
    Happy Thanksgiving

  11. Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family. It sounds like you probably had a great day today with lovely turkey sandwiches! YUM!
The dogs picture is priceless and definitely needs it's own "page"!
We are fairly typical. I cook all the food (tons of it) and then we sit at around 2pm and eat it. Then we graze on it for the rest of the day! LOL Hugs, Stacy H-W
